Traveler Reviews
The part around the Zhangjiajie peaks was unhurried, which mattered more to me than squeezing in one more stop. The glass walkway was a good counterpoint.
What helped was simple: pickup and the trail start were timed well, so we were walking before the busiest part of the day. Water and rest stops were discussed clearly. For 3 days around Zhangjiajie, the pace felt about right.
Looking back, my legs noticed the climbs the next morning. I would still do the same route, just with lighter shoes and fewer things in my daypack. My only advice is not to shorten the time at the Zhangjiajie peaks.
Looking back, I had a long list of things I thought I needed to see. After the Zhangjiajie peaks, I was happier slowing down and noticing fewer things properly.
Honestly, worth doing for the glass walkway; worth remembering for the small stops in between.
