Itinerary
Chengdu: Zhongba Forest & Ancient Town Foodie Day Trip
Enjoy a refreshing day in nature and old-town charm on this fully private, easygoing trip from Chengdu to the enchanting Zhongba forest. Your English-speaking guide and private driver pick you up at your hotel, so the whole day is effortless.
Zhongba forest is a magical green retreat often compared to a storybook wonderland, with soft light filtering through tall trees and gentle, well-shaded paths. This is a leisurely stroll rather than a hike: you can wander at your own pace, breathe the fresh forest air, and stop wherever you like for photos and quiet moments among the greenery.
In the afternoon, your guide takes you to a nearby ancient town to discover its local food scene. Sample classic Sichuan snacks and regional specialties, browse the old streets, and soak up the relaxed atmosphere of small-town life. Your guide shares the history and traditions behind the dishes and the town.
A relaxed local lunch featuring authentic Sichuan flavors is included. The entire day is calm and unhurried, ideal for travelers who want genuine local China, easy walking only, and a real taste of regional cuisine.
Pets are welcome, and pickup is available from any address within central Chengdu.

Traveler Reviews
Looking back, what I remember is the change from one stop to the next: different room, different smell, different crowd. The food stops was only one part of it. I would rather keep the pause at the food stops than add another stop.
The unglamorous part: the Chengdu meeting point was simple to find, and the food stops came at a sensible pace. There was time to ask what we were eating rather than just moving to the next plate.
Before you go, come hungry in Chengdu and say clearly what you cannot eat. There was enough variety that skipping one item did not make the experience feel smaller. I would still leave extra time for the food stops.
The route made more sense once we were on it. Time at Chengdu set the pace, while the food stops gave us a reason to slow down.
