Dali Villages: Explore Hidden Ways of Life with a Tea Master

After pickup in the Dali Ancient City area, leave the busiest old-town streets for villages at the foot of Cangshan Mountain. A local tea master leads the experience, using a restored courtyard tea session to introduce the people who have chosen a creative, slower way of life in the Dali countryside.

The route includes a guided village walk, a visit to a local market for lunch, time at a tea museum and a short walk along part of the historic Tea Horse Road. Each stop is compact, but together they show village routines, local trade and tea culture rather than only scenic viewpoints. Transport to and from the meeting point is included; personal purchases at the market or tea museum remain optional.

For us, this was less about eating a huge meal than paying attention to several small ones. That rhythm worked for 8 hours.

Practically speaking, the Lijiang stops were organised, but the food did not arrive like a rehearsed tasting menu. Each place kept its own character.

Rina U.🇬🇧 UK★★★★★2024-12

The useful part in Lijiang was not just trying food, but knowing what to order again later. I saved two dish names in my phone before the tour ended. I would rather keep the pause at Explore Hidden Ways of Life with a Tea Master than add another stop.

Sarah P.🇮🇹 Italy★★★★★2024-03

Honestly, I would book this again for the pacing, not because every stop was spectacular. The ordinary transitions made Lijiang feel like a place rather than a set of postcards.

I came with questions, left with more questions, and mean that as a compliment. My only advice is not to shorten the time at Explore Hidden Ways of Life with a Tea Master.
