Itinerary

Day 1: Chengdu to Hongyuan Grassland

Meet around 06:40 and depart Chengdu by 07:30, driving north toward the Hongyuan grasslands. In peak season traffic can affect timing, so bring fruit and snacks; lunch is expected around midday near Shuajin Temple town. Continuing on, you stop to take in the Yangtze-Yellow River watershed, a notable geographic divide, then reach the grasslands near Longriba for free time among the open prairie. The drive covers about 370 km over roughly 7 hours, climbing steadily onto the Tibetan plateau with sweeping grassland and big-sky scenery along the way. Around 17:30 check into your hotel in Hongyuan county town, find dinner and rest early to acclimatize to the altitude. Meals: own. Overnight: standard hotel in Hongyuan.

Day 2: Emutang Flower Sea & Return to Chengdu

After breakfast, set off around 07:30 for Emutang. By around 08:30 you arrive at the Emutang scenic area, a 30,000-mu prairie that becomes a vast sea of flowers in early summer. The sheer scale and density of the bloom are rarely seen anywhere on the plateau, which is why visitors call it China's most beautiful grassland flower meadow; take your time walking among the wildflowers and capturing the endless color against the mountains. Around 14:00 begin the return drive, covering about 330 km over roughly 6 hours back to Chengdu, arriving around 20:00 where the tour ends.
