Traveler Reviews
I went in most excited about the Zhangjiajie peaks. Funny enough, Zhangjiajie is the part I kept talking about afterward. For this itinerary, the number of stops was enough.
What helped was simple: our questions wandered well beyond the standard facts, and the guide stayed with them. That made the time at Zhangjiajie much more interesting.
Looking back, I would check the weather and dress in layers. We moved between the vehicle, open spaces and indoor sites often enough to notice the difference. For 8 hours around Zhangjiajie, the pace felt about right.
Looking back, I tend to switch off when tours become a stream of dates. Here, the stories around Zhangjiajie gave me enough to hold on to without overloading the day. The time around the Zhangjiajie peaks was not the part I would cut.
Honestly, worth doing for the Zhangjiajie peaks; worth remembering for the small stops in between.
