Looking back, the food came quickly, but the tour did not. We had time to ask where each dish came from and how people in Suzhou usually order it.
The unglamorous part: the Suzhou meeting point was simple to find, and the food stops came at a sensible pace. There was time to ask what we were eating rather than just moving to the next plate.
Before you go, come hungry in Suzhou and say clearly what you cannot eat. There was enough variety that skipping one item did not make the experience feel smaller.
The route made more sense once we were on it. Time at Suzhou set the pace, while Maotian Hill & Ancient Tower Food Day gave us a reason to slow down.
No grand claims from me: this was organised well, felt personal and showed us Suzhou at a sensible pace.
