Gulangyu Island Longtou Road Tasting Walk (Coffee, Tea, Wine)

Gulangyu (鼓浪屿) is a UNESCO World Heritage car-free island off Xiamen, famous for its colonial architecture and quietly excellent food and drink scene. Longtou Road (龙头路) is the main commercial street, but the gems are tucked into the side lanes — the original Xiamen coffee culture, a Hokkien tea house run by 3rd-generation family, and a wine bar in a 1920s colonial mansion.

This half-day curated tasting walk visits 4 stops: a third-wave coffee shop for Xiamen's signature pour-over style, a Hokkien tea house for oolong tasting, a traditional Hokkien snack vendor (peanut soup, prawn noodles), and a colonial-mansion wine bar for an evening glass.

In hindsight, I booked with two dishes in mind and left with a longer list. Gulangyu Island Longtou Road Tasting Walk gave the route a clear sense of place rather than feeling like random snacks.

Practically speaking, the Xiamen meeting point was simple to find, and the food stops came at a sensible pace. There was time to ask what we were eating rather than just moving to the next plate.

The useful part in Xiamen was not just trying food, but knowing what to order again later. I saved two dish names in my phone before the tour ended.
