Itinerary
Hangzhou: Qiandao Lake Forest & Kayak Private Day Trip
Trade the city for a gentle, scenic day at China's beautiful Qiandao Lake (Thousand Island Lake), one of the loveliest freshwater landscapes in Zhejiang. Your private guide and driver collect you from your Hangzhou hotel in the morning and handle every detail so you can simply relax.
First stop is the old lane of Qilong Xiang in Chun'an, a lively heritage street where three generations of locals have come to eat. Here you taste authentic lake-fish cuisine at a well-loved riverside restaurant before continuing to Muxin Valley, an emerald forest pocket that feels like a real-life fairy tale. You wander shaded paths at an easy, unhurried pace, breathing pine-scented air and letting the calm of the woods melt away city stress.
In the afternoon you reach the lakeside water park, where you slip into a kayak (life jacket provided) and paddle gently across the clear water, soaking in the island scenery at your own rhythm. Before heading back you visit a local orchard and pick your own basket of sweet white loquats, about 2 kg, to carry home.
This is a private, family-friendly experience designed for comfort, not endurance: light walking on good paths, plenty of photo stops, a relaxed lunch and a leisurely return to Hangzhou in the early evening. Pet-friendly and fully customizable, it is perfect for travelers who want to discover authentic small-town China and its lake country without crowds or strenuous activity.

Traveler Reviews
Honestly, I chose this route for Qiandao Lake Forest & Kayak Day, but it didn't feel built around a single attraction. Hangzhou gave the day a different rhythm.
This worked for us because we didn't have to solve transport between Hangzhou and Qiandao Lake Forest & Kayak Day. We could pay attention to the places, not the logistics.
A practical note: the busiest place on the route was genuinely busy. Starting earlier would be my only change. The time around Qiandao Lake Forest & Kayak Day was not the part I would cut.
In hindsight, not every minute was engineered into a “moment.” There was time for coffee, questions and simply watching Hangzhou go by.
I booked mainly for Qiandao Lake Forest & Kayak Day. I was glad I did because of Hangzhou.
