After a convenient pickup at your Hangzhou hotel, your private air-conditioned car takes you to the Lingshan and Tongjian Lake area, with your English-speaking guide sharing the stories and scenery of this peaceful corner of the city along the way.
A short, easy walk brings you to the Lingshan Wonderland cave, which stays a cool 16C year-round, a wonderful escape on a warm day. Looking back, there was a fair amount in 8 hours, but it never felt like a checklist. The stop at Tongjian Lake Kayaking, Lingshan Cave & Flowers had room to breathe instead of becoming another quick photo.
The unglamorous part: pickup, tickets and the order of stops were handled without fuss. That sounds ordinary, but it is exactly what you want on a full sightseeing day. For 8 hours around Hangzhou, the pace felt about right.
One thing I learned: lunch landed later than I expected, so a small snack was useful. I was happier not cutting the time at Tongjian Lake Kayaking, Lingshan Cave & Flowers.
We booked because arranging Hangzhou ourselves looked fiddly. We came away remembering the conversations as much as the places.
