Traveler Reviews
Looking back, this was less about eating a huge meal than paying attention to several small ones. That rhythm worked for 11 hours.
The unglamorous part: the useful part in Shanghai, Guilin and Hangzhou was having someone explain how to order the same dishes later. I left with names in my phone, not just photos.
One thing I learned: the trail is more physical than the tidy itinerary makes it sound. Proper shoes helped, and I was glad we kept water handy. I would still leave extra time for West Lake.
Not every minute was engineered into a “moment.” There was time for coffee, questions and simply watching Shanghai, Guilin and Hangzhou go by.
