Itinerary
Hangzhou: West Lake Hills & Longjing Tea Day Trip
Discover the soft, green side of Hangzhou on this relaxed private day trip designed for travelers who want authentic scenery without any strenuous climbing. After a convenient pickup from your hotel anywhere in Hangzhou city, settle into your private vehicle and ride out to the leafy area along the Qiantang River.
Your English-speaking guide leads you on an easy, scenic stroll into the celebrated Nine Creeks valley (Jiuxi Shibajian), where clear streams wind beneath tea-covered slopes and bamboo. The pace is gentle and entirely flexible, with plenty of stops for photos and to simply breathe in the fresh mountain air.
Continue at a leisurely pace to the historic Longjing (Dragon Well) tea village, the birthplace of one of China's most famous green teas. Here you can wander among the tea terraces, learn how Longjing is grown and pan-fired, and enjoy a tasting of fresh local tea. A relaxed sit-down lunch is included so you can recharge while taking in the village atmosphere.
In the afternoon, your guide takes you to a peaceful viewpoint overlooking the rolling hills, with distant views toward the Lingyin temple area. You will also visit a serene spot beside an ancient ginkgo tree said to be over 1,400 years old, a wonderful place for memorable photos.
Throughout the day your private car shadows the route, so you never have to walk further than you wish and can shorten or extend any section to suit your comfort. This is an ideal way for families, couples and curious travelers to experience genuine Chinese tea culture, gentle nature and timeless village life around West Lake, all at your own easy rhythm. After a full and unhurried day, you are driven back to your hotel.

Traveler Reviews
The stop I expected to like least turned into the one we discussed afterward. That is the advantage of tasting with someone who can explain what is in front of you.
What helped was simple: the Guilin and Hangzhou meeting point was simple to find, and the food stops came at a sensible pace. There was time to ask what we were eating rather than just moving to the next plate.
Small tip: do not eat a large breakfast before the Guilin and Hangzhou tour. The portions at individual stops look modest, then suddenly you realise you have been tasting things for hours.
Looking back, I would book this again for the pacing, not because every stop was spectacular. The ordinary transitions made Guilin and Hangzhou feel like a place rather than a set of postcards.
