Hangzhou: Yunxi Bamboo Forest Trail & Meijiawu Tea Tasting Half-Day Tour

Half-day escape into Hangzhou's most peaceful corner. Morning pickup, then drive to Yunxi Bamboo Trail (Yunxi Zhujing) — a 1.5km path through a dense, century-old bamboo grove that stays 5°C cooler than the city even in summer. Walk past three trickling streams and listen to nothing but bamboo creaking in the wind. Continue 15 minutes to Meijiawu, the original Longjing (Dragon Well) green tea village, for a guided tea-leaf picking session at a family farm (April-October), a tea-frying demonstration in a wood-fired wok, and a 6-cup tasting flight covering Mingqian, Yuqian, and standard Longjing grades. Light tea-snack lunch.

The food came quickly, but the tour did not. We had time to ask where each dish came from and how people in Guilin and Hangzhou usually order it.

Lucas R.🇺🇸 USA★★★★☆2025-03

What helped was simple: the Guilin and Hangzhou stops were organised, but the food did not arrive like a rehearsed tasting menu. Each place kept its own character.

Looking back, my legs noticed the climbs the next morning. I would still do the same route, just with lighter shoes and fewer things in my daypack. My only advice is not to shorten the time at Yunxi Bamboo Forest Trail & Meijiawu Tea Tasting Half-Day.

Looking back, I tend to switch off when tours become a stream of dates. Here, the stories around Guilin and Hangzhou gave me enough to hold on to without overloading the day.
