Traveler Reviews
Looking back, there were stretches with nothing to do except look out of the window. Those quiet kilometres ended up being one of my favourite parts.
The unglamorous part: the best organisation happened quietly: fuel, permits and rest stops were dealt with while we watched the landscape change.
One thing I learned: some days involve more time in the vehicle than the photos suggest. The changing landscape made it worthwhile, but this route suits people who enjoy the road itself. The time around Lake Manasarovar was not the part I would cut.
The route made more sense once we were on it. Time at the Potala Palace set the pace, while Mount Kailash gave us a reason to slow down.
