Itinerary
Ningbo: Dongqian Lake & Ancient Path Private Day Trip
Enjoy a calm, scenic day at Dongqian Lake – Ningbo's largest lake and favourite weekend escape – on a fully private tour that keeps everything easy and unhurried. Your English-speaking guide and private driver collect you from your Ningbo hotel and bring you to the quiet eastern shore.
You take a gentle walk along the historic Baijiling Ancient Path, a centuries-old stone trail that winds softly upward through maple and peach trees – an easy, mostly level route with frequent viewpoints rather than a strenuous climb. Pass the old stone archway, pause at the Baiji Pavilion where the whole of Dongqian Lake opens up below you, and let your guide explain the history worn into each stone.
On the way down you follow a lakeside lane past the lifelike stone carvings of the Southern Song Stone Park – guardian tigers, horses and zodiac figures that have watched over this valley for centuries. The path emerges right beside the lake, where you continue along the shore through the peaceful "Qianhu Secret Land" scenery.
A relaxed local lunch is included, and the pace is entirely yours – stop for photos, rest at the viewpoints, and soak up the lake-and-mountain calm. With private transport, hotel pickup, a personal guide and no demanding terrain, this is an authentic, gentle slice of Zhejiang's countryside.

Traveler Reviews
Looking back, a small thing I appreciated: the guide let Dongqian Lake speak for itself sometimes. Not every quiet moment needed another speech.
The unglamorous part: pickup, tickets and the order of stops were handled without fuss. That sounds ordinary, but it is exactly what you want on a full sightseeing day. My only advice is not to shorten the time at Dongqian Lake.
One thing I learned: lunch landed later than I expected, so a small snack was useful. I was happier not cutting the time at Dongqian Lake.
