Traveler Reviews
Looking back, a small thing I appreciated: the guide let Shangri-La speak for itself sometimes. Not every quiet moment needed another speech. I would rather keep the pause at the trail than add another stop.
The unglamorous part: the guide checked the pace before the steeper section rather than after someone fell behind. That made the trail feel supportive without becoming fussy. The time around the trail was not the part I would cut.
One thing I learned: the trail is more physical than the tidy itinerary makes it sound. Proper shoes helped, and I was glad we kept water handy. For 3 days around Lhasa and Lijiang, the pace felt about right.
Not every minute was engineered into a “moment.” There was time for coffee, questions and simply watching Lhasa and Lijiang go by.
No grand claims from me: this was organised well, felt personal and showed us Lhasa and Lijiang at a sensible pace.
