Traveler Reviews
My camera roll says the Zhangjiajie peaks was the big moment. My actual favourite was Zhangjiajie; it felt less obvious and more personal.
What helped was simple: our guide read the pace well. We got the background when it helped, then space to explore instead of a running lecture. My only advice is not to shorten the time at the Zhangjiajie peaks.
Looking back, I would check the weather and dress in layers. We moved between the vehicle, open spaces and indoor sites often enough to notice the difference. The time around the Zhangjiajie peaks was not the part I would cut.
