Traveler Reviews
In hindsight, I expected Round to 6 Water Villages of China from SH to be the headline, and it was. What I didn't expect was how much context from the guide changed what I noticed there.
Practically speaking, the route through Shanghai could be awkward to arrange independently. Having one person keep the timing straight made the whole thing calmer. For this itinerary, the number of stops was enough.
Bring water and do not over-plan the evening afterward. 8 hours covered more ground than I expected. For 8 hours around Shanghai, the pace felt about right.
Honestly, I had a long list of things I thought I needed to see. After Shanghai, I was happier slowing down and noticing fewer things properly. My only advice is not to shorten the time at Round to 6 Water Villages of China from SH.
