Itinerary
Shanghai: Ningbo Old Bund & Moon Lake City Walk Trip
Enjoy an easy, flat city walk through one of China's oldest port cities on this private, no-rush day trip from Shanghai to Ningbo.
This is a relaxed urban-culture day with gentle strolling and no hiking. After a comfortable pickup from your Shanghai hotel in a private vehicle, you travel with your English-speaking guide to Nantang Old Street, a charming Jiangnan-style district that preserves late-Qing and early-Republic architecture. Wandering the grey-brick, black-tiled lanes feels like stepping back in time, and your guide helps you sample beloved local treats such as glutinous rice-ball dumplings and crispy fried twists.
A local lunch is included. You then visit the tranquil Moon Lake (Yuehu) Park, a 5A-rated scenic area with 1300 years of history, where a ring of clear water links Tang and Song-era elegance with everyday life, an easy and very photogenic stroll of around 5 km on flat ground. If you prefer, you can instead visit the adjacent Tianyi Pavilion (entry around 30 RMB, optional), the oldest surviving private library in China, more than 400 years old.
In the late afternoon your private car brings you to Ningbo's Old Bund, opened to foreign trade in 1844, a full twenty years before Shanghai's famous Bund. Here you admire a wealth of beautifully preserved East-meets-West historic buildings, including a Catholic church and the former British Consulate, reflecting the city's rich port heritage.
Throughout the day your private guide and driver handle all logistics, so you can simply relax and enjoy authentic city culture, history, and food at a comfortable pace before returning to your Shanghai hotel in the evening.

Traveler Reviews
For us, there are plenty of polished photos online; the useful surprise was having time at the Bund without being moved along every five minutes.
Practically speaking, communication beforehand was straightforward. On the day, the plan was explained once and then everything simply felt easy to follow. For 13 hours around Shanghai and Ningbo, the pace felt about right.
I underestimated how much standing the day involved. A short sit-down between stops made the second half much easier. I would still leave extra time for the Bund.
