One detail from the day: the stop I expected to like least turned into the one we discussed afterward. That is the advantage of tasting with someone who can explain what is in front of you. For 13 hours around Shanghai and Hangzhou, the pace felt about right.
The useful part in Shanghai and Hangzhou was having someone explain how to order the same dishes later. I left with names in my phone, not just photos.
A practical note: one Shanghai and Hangzhou dish was outside my comfort zone, which was half the reason I booked. Asking how locals eat it made the stop much more interesting.
