Shanghai: Zhoushan Windmill Coast Private Day Trip
Swap the skyscrapers for sea air on this easygoing private day trip to the windmill coast of Zhoushan. After a comfortable pickup from your Shanghai hotel, your private English-speaking guide and driver take you to the Mamu wind farm, one of Zhoushan's key wind-power sites, where rows of towering white turbines line the coastal ridges and tidal flats against a backdrop of sea and sky.
This is a gentle, scenic outing designed for relaxation, not exertion. You will stroll easy paths at your own pace, stopping for photos beneath the giant windmills and across the open coastline. In early summer the hillsides bloom with daisies, adding splashes of color to the dramatic ocean views, a favorite of photographers and anyone who simply loves a beautiful, breezy walk.
A highlight is the hidden Juebikan old village on the island's western edge, with its weathered stone houses tucked into the landscape, a wonderfully photogenic spot. Look out across the water toward the Zhoudai Bridge, and with luck spot rare coastal birdlife. You will pause at a peaceful spot to enjoy a relaxed lunch and share the unhurried rhythm of the day.
As a fully private tour, the day is shaped around your group, with flexible timing and a comfortable pace suitable for couples, families and friends. Your guide manages every detail, from navigation to local insights, so you can focus on the views and the fresh sea air. After a calm afternoon on the coast you are driven back to your Shanghai hotel, relaxed and refreshed.

Traveler Reviews
For us, there are plenty of polished photos online; the useful surprise was having time at Zhoushan Windmill Coast Day without being moved along every five minutes.
Practically speaking, I liked that the day had structure without feeling scripted. Questions were answered properly, and there was also time to look around in silence. My only advice is not to shorten the time at Zhoushan Windmill Coast Day.
Bring water and do not over-plan the evening afterward. 13 hours covered more ground than I expected. For 13 hours around Shanghai, the pace felt about right.
Honestly, I tend to switch off when tours become a stream of dates. Here, the stories around Shanghai gave me enough to hold on to without overloading the day. With 13 hours to work with, the balance felt sensible.
