My camera roll says Yu Garden was the big moment. My actual favourite was the Bund; it felt less obvious and more personal.
What helped was simple: there was no theatrical “VIP” treatment, just useful organisation and a guide who noticed when we needed a pause. That suited us. With 7 hours to work with, the balance felt sensible.
Looking back, I carried more than I needed. Water, a light layer and a small power bank would have covered the whole day. For 7 hours around Shanghai, the pace felt about right.
Looking back, I would book this again for the pacing, not because every stop was spectacular. The ordinary transitions made Shanghai feel like a place rather than a set of postcards. For this itinerary, the number of stops was enough.
