About This Tour
This is the full Wugong Mountain experience: a private 3-day, 21 km reverse traverse across one of China's finest trekking ranges, praised by the Ming-dynasty explorer Xu Xiake. Wugongshan's signature landscape, tens of thousands of acres of high-alpine grassland rolling over ridges above 1,900 meters, unfolds slowly over three days of walking, with seas of cloud, jagged rock formations, alpine springs and brilliant night skies. You'll hike the open spine of the range, conquer the notorious 'Desperation Slope' and 'Hero's Slope,' camp near the ridge with two chances at a sea-of-clouds sunrise, walk China's longest high-altitude glass skywalk, and finally summit the 1,918.3 m Golden Peak. A genuine, well-supported multi-day trek with luggage transfer, this trip suits fit, adventurous travelers, families with active older children, and anyone who wants a real Chinese mountain crossing without extreme altitude. Itinerary

Day 1: Pingxiang to Longshan Village | Climb to Fayunjie
Meet at Pingxiang station around 08:30, where small cars or a minibus take the group on the 60 km / 1.5-hour drive to the trailhead at Longshan Village. After a short rest and repacking (you carry your own gear; the rest is transferred to the mountain base for Day 3), a 10 RMB sanitation fee is settled and you begin around 10:30. Day one covers about 6 km with roughly 1,100 m of cumulative ascent, mostly uphill, beside clear streams on a well-trodden local path. Your guide coaches breathing, pacing and the use of trekking poles as you climb steadily toward today's goal at Fayunjie on the ridge. As you gain height the grassland opens up, with views of Wugongshan's rolling meadows, rock spires and, on a clear evening, a wide star field. Meals: L (trail lunch). Overnight: Fayunjie ridge area.

Day 2: Ridge Traverse | Desperation Slope & Hero's Slope to Camp
Wake around 05:00 for the first chance at a sunrise sea of clouds, then enjoy an unhurried breakfast and stretching. Today is the heart of the traverse: about 9 km along Wugongshan's spectacular ridgeline, with around 1,000 m of climbing as you tackle the two 'big bosses,' the steep, exposed Desperation Slope and Hero's Slope, where narrow paths wind between cliff edges and endless grassland. Reaching the top brings that hard-won 'master of all I survey' feeling. Around midday take a trail lunch near Desperation Slope, then continue to camp around 16:00, with priority at Guanyindang camp (star-gazing tents) or, if full, the Diaomazhuang guesthouse a short 1.5-3 km further on. Evening at the high camp offers clear skies and a second shot at dawn tomorrow. Meals: B, L (trail). Overnight: Guanyindang camp / Diaomazhuang.

Day 3: Glass Skywalk, Golden Peak Summit & Descent to Pingxiang
An optional 05:00 start gives a second chance at a sea-of-clouds dawn. After breakfast around 07:30, set out for the Golden Peak via China's longest high-altitude glass skywalk (above 1,600 m), suspended along the cliffs with sweeping or mist-shrouded views. From Diaomazhuang it's a final ~2 km uphill push to the 1,918.3 m Golden Peak summit, where you celebrate at the summit marker. Walk 1 km to the cable-car station and descend by the upper cable car (fare on own), or continue on foot about 6 km. After summit photos and the trip's farewell, drive to Pingxiang stations: North Station first (1.5 h) then the city station (10 min). Book return trains for 17:00 or later. Meals: L (on own; snacks recommended). Overnight: not included.
