Xidi Ancient Village UNESCO Half-Day Private Tour from Huangshan

Xidi is the other Hui-style ancient village inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage list, just 8km from the more famous Hongcun. Founded in the 11th century, Xidi preserves 124 Ming and Qing-dynasty residences along a slate-paved street, including Lufu Hall, the Memorial Archway of Hu Wenguang, and the Jingai Hall. Tour features hand-carved wooden lattice windows, brick relief carvings on the gateways, and merchant ancestral halls. Half-day format leaves your afternoon free for Hongcun or Yellow Mountain. Pickup from Tunxi or Tangkou hotels.

My camera roll says Huangshan was the big moment. My actual favourite was Hongcun; it felt less obvious and more personal.

Thomas N.🇮🇹 Italy★★★★☆2025-03

What helped was simple: there was no theatrical “VIP” treatment, just useful organisation and a guide who noticed when we needed a pause. That suited us. I would still leave extra time for Xidi.

Ben G.🇳🇱 Netherlands★★★★★2024-06

Looking back, I would check the weather and dress in layers. We moved between the vehicle, open spaces and indoor sites often enough to notice the difference. The time around Hongcun was not the part I would cut.

Mia Z.🇯🇵 Japan★★★★★2024-05

Looking back, this wasn't a “see everything” tour, and that was a strength. The time around Huangshan felt specific to Huangshan, not interchangeable with another city.

In short, worth doing for Hongcun; worth remembering for the small stops in between.
