For us, what stayed with me wasn't the booking or the car. It was the time at the Yangshuo countryside, when we could slow down and actually look around.
Practically speaking, communication beforehand was straightforward. On the day, the plan was explained once and then everything simply felt easy to follow. The time around the Yangshuo countryside was not the part I would cut.
I underestimated how much standing the day involved. A short sit-down between stops made the second half much easier. My only advice is not to shorten the time at the Yangshuo countryside.
Honestly, this wasn't a “see everything” tour, and that was a strength. The time around Guilin felt specific to Guilin, not interchangeable with another city.
In short, I came with questions, left with more questions, and mean that as a compliment. For 2 hours around Guilin, the pace felt about right.
